Leaving work, but if you need some GAU series gun tests (GAU 12, the little brother to the GAU8 in the A10) enjoy this video as I have
Holy hell those armor piecing rounds are terrifying!

The F-35 uses a four barrel version of this gun, the GAU-22.

I don’t know what they consider a tank kill, but those tanks looked pretty whacked to me. And they said nothing about the plywood crew. The tanks were all severly broken and the crews were probably severely injured or killed. Devastating.

And the tanks that weren’t killed: they gone just fill those holes with Bondo? JB Weld?

Just imagine what 2.5 inch armour shrapnel in an enclosed space would do. Scary stuff

It shoots:
No idea if it can hit anything, but I’d assume not given that it is still a ways from deployment. Does seem to have some cool software tricks that should help its accuracy, but I guess getting those working right is a big part of the delay.
To be honest though, I do wonder how valuable it will be. As can be seen in your video, the limit on this guns seems to be incapacitating medium tanks from the ‘50/’60s, which seems like it may not be that useful in the ground attack role.

The gau8 in the a10 is best for close support...but it needs a slow and tough jet to pull it off

Even if it didn’t penetrate, imagine the NOISE! And if you really want to consider armor horror, consider US Sherman tankers in WWII. Like the bomber crews over Europe.

That’s bad ass. The use of the word “slag” sold me. I’ll take two.
